Homeowner Associations (HOAs) are organizations that govern housing communities like condominiums or neighborhoods and are responsible for creating, setting, and enforcing community rules.

 

Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CCR&s) represent the community rules. These CC&Rs list the rights and responsibilities of both the HOA and the residents in the community. CC&Rs also list guidelines for property use, maintenance, and property alterations.

 

It is not uncommon for homeowners or renters who live in HOA controlled communities to have issues with the HOA. Some of these issues can include violations of the CC&Rs, the HOA negligence in maintaining the property, or disputes regarding how HOA funds have been spent.
